How to: Set up the monitor to turn off automatically when not in use.
Solution:
Double-click the 'Display' icon. Click the 'Settings' tab and click 'Change Display Type...'. If the monitor is Energy Start compliant, select the 'Monitor is Energy Star compliant' check box. If the monitor is not Energy Star compliant, select the 'Shut off monitor' check box.
1) If the monitor is Energy Star compliant:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)
c) Double-click the 'Display' icon. (The 'Display Properties' dialog box appears.)

e) Click 'Change Display Type...'. (The 'Change Display Type' dialog box appears.)

2) If the monitor is NOT Energy Star compliant:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)
c) Double-click the 'Display' icon. (The 'Display Properties' dialog box appears.)

d) Click the 'Screen Saver' tab.
e) Select the 'Shut off monitor' check box.
f) Click 'Apply' and click 'OK'.
